Analysis and Technical Update to the Colorado Water Plan
The Colorado Water Conservation Board’s recently released Analysis and Technical Update to the Colorado Water Plan (Technical Update) is a state-of-the-art water supply initiative that provides robust analyses on how future water needs may change for municipalities, agriculture, and the environment. The Technical Update provides the foundational tools necessary to update project planning in each of Colorado’s eight major river basins and sets the stage for the update of the Colorado Water Plan itself. Using five future scenarios to help forecast potential risks, the Technical Update produces an array of data to support local planning and project implementation.
Speaker: Greg Johnson
Greg Johnson serves as the Section Chief for the CWCB’s Water Supply Planning section, which includes the Office of Water Conservation & Drought Planning. This section performs various ongoing planning and funding efforts to help ensure an adequate water supply for Colorado’s citizens and the environment. These efforts include working to implement the Colorado Water Plan, updating the Statewide Water Supply Initiative and Basin Implementation Plans, providing organization and oversight of the basin roundtable and IBCC stakeholder processes, managing various funding programs to assist water projects, supporting water conservation and drought planning, and providing public education and outreach on Colorado’s water supply future. Past experience includes working as a consultant on water supply planning projects, assisting with water supply planning at a municipal water provider, and working as a geologist for an environmental consulting firm. Outside of work, he does his best to bike, ski, and generally enjoy our beautiful state with family and friends.
